A TALENTED East Lancs songbird is set to star with X Factor winner Shayne Ward to headline a charity concert in Manchester.

Rawtenstall teenager Grace O’Malley will perform with the chart-topper for a North West Air Ambulance carol service at Manchester Cathedral on December 11.

The Alder Grange Community and Technology School student is a youth ambassador for the charity, and has helped raise around £50,000.

As well as the air ambulance team, she has contributed to the Royal British Legion, Help for Heroes and Pendleside Hospice from singing at events and producing a CD.

Grace, 14, said: “I’m really excited to be supporting such a great cause and to be singing with Shayne Ward. I love watching X Factor, so I can’t wait to get on stage with him. The North West Air Ambulance is a phenomenal charity which needs as much support as possible.”

Grace’s fundraising efforts have seen her collect local radio station 2BR’s Charity Worker of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year awards.

Grace, of Cranshaw Drive, has been singing for seven years and began her charity work through her grandfather’s British Legion ties. She was made the youngest honorary member of the legion two years ago.

In July this year she followed in the illustrious footsteps of Italian opera singer Luciano Pavarotti by winning a gold medal at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in North Wales.

Tickets for the concert cost £6 for children, £9 for adults and £16 for families. Call Litza Gorman on 0151 547 7830.
