A TEENAGER who was savagely attacked by a dog in a Blackburn park said that his leg would be ‘scarred for life’.

Badruddin Patel, 18, was walking through Corporation Park when a dog, believed to be a Bullmastiff, bit his right hip.

He then slipped to the ground before being bitten on his left leg.

He was taken by police to Royal Blackburn Hospital for two open wounds to his right hip and left leg.

Badruddin said that he had been walking through the park on his way home from college at around 4pm from the Preston New Road entrance, near to the fountain, when a dog ran up to him.

He said: “I was walking with my friend on my way home from college when my friend suddenly moved away, the next thing I knew the dog was right in front of me. I turned and it bit me on the hip, then I slipped to the ground and it bit me on the left leg.

“I have heard about incidents like this before and feared the worst. I thought that the dog had locked it’s jaw on my leg and that It was going to rip my leg to shreds.

“The dog owner eventually started walking over and the dog then went away. My leg has been scarred for life by the attack. If it had been a young child which was attacked, they may not have survived.”

Police are appealing for information regarding the incident.

They have described the dog as being light brown with a white belly and the owner as white, around 17-years-old and was wearing a black jacket and dark coloured jeans.

Another dog was with him which was black and believed to be the same breed as the first one. The incident happened last Monday.

PC Neil Lowe said: “This was a nasty incident and we are keen to trace the owner of this dog to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again. If you were in the park at the time and think you may have seen the man with the two dogs then I would ask you to contact police.

“I would also like to make a direct appeal to the owner of this dog to come forward and speak with us. The park wardens have been made aware of this incident and are working with police in order to try and trace this man.”
