BLACKBURN with Darwen borough is looking for two council taxpayers to help ensure elected representatives maintain high ethical standards.
Town hall bosses want residents who expect a lot from councillors and want to make sure they deliver.
They are seeking to recruit two independent members to the council’s standards committee which aims to:
- Promote and maintain high standards of conduct by councillors and co-opted members of the council; and
- Determine whether a breach of the code of conduct for members has occurred.
Sian Roxborough, head of Legal Services, wants the recruits to make a positive contribution to enhancing councillors standards.
She added; “We welcome applicants who are not councillors or Council employees, are not close friends or relatives of councillors or Council employees and who have not, during the past five years, been councillors or Council employees.”
Applications must be received by November 30, 2012.
