AN inquest has been opened into the death of a Rossendale man who died following a car crash in Ribble Valley.

East Lancashire Coroner Michael Singleton adjourned the hearing into the death of 24-year-old Zolillur Rahman, so that he could hold the inquest of Robert Carson, the other driver killed in the collision at the same time.

Mr Singleton said Mr Rahman had been working at his family’s takeaway business in Longridge when the accident happened on November 11.

Mr Rahman’s Ford Focus and Mr Carson’s Vauxhall Corsa collided head-on at around 10.30pm between the Bulls Head pub and the Wilpshire Hotel in Whalley New Road.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, 35-year-old Robert Carson from Brownhill Road, Blackburn died of his injuries at the scene.

Mr Singleton told the hearing that Mr Rahman suffered trauma to the brain and a collasped lung.

He died from multiple injuries in the Royal Preston Hospital at 4am on November 16.

The inquest was adjourned while police continue their investigations into the incident.
