A WOMAN and her eight year old son were cut free from their car after a rush hour smash on the M65 last night.
The woman, 35, and her son were travelling westbound on the M65 near junction 6 at Whitebirk when the three car collision took place.
Her Peugeot 308 was hit from behind at around 5.45pm.
Fire crews cut the side of the car off to remove the driver and rear passenger from the wreckage on spinal boards as a precautionary measure.
The 22-year-old female driver of the Ford Fiesta which collided with the car received nose and leg injuries.
The casualties were taken by ambulance to the Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.
The third car received minor damage.
