LANCASHIRE County Council is to raise its successful apprentices scheme with the leaders of district councils to see if they can benefit from it.

The scrutiny committee at County Hall recently considered a report on the work done by the county council in recruiting and training apprenticeships.

Since 2006 the county council has had 1,110 apprentices, and they have taken on over 130 since April this year.

Councillors on the scrutiny committee suggested writing to district councils to discuss ways of benefiting from the programme.
