Fuel reminder for Pendle smoke-control areas

PENDLE residents who live in Smoke-Control Areas are reminded to check they are using the correct fuel on their open fire, or solid fuel appliance.

Coun John David, who looks after environmental health in Pendle, said: “We have noticed a significant increase in inquiries about using solid fuel. This is down to the increases in gas prices, and possibly because people are more conscious of climate change. If you live in a built-up area, it is probably a Smoke-Control Area, and you must follow certain rules to ensure your chimney isn’t giving off smoke.”

and when the SS have finished exacting total compliance within the smoke-control areas they will be introducing the oxygen-control mandate to make sure you only use as much as is absolutely necessary for basic survival............

coates warder, you cannot just burn anything on your home fire/woodburning stove/solidfuel cooker. It has to be smokeless coal/dried out logs and dried out wood to comply with smoke control area requirements of Pendle Council.
