Reminder for East Lancashire patients to get flu jab

THOSE at a high risk of the flu are being urged to get immunised.

Flu can cause a sudden high temperature, headache and general aches and pains, tiredness and sore throat, coughing, loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhoea, exhaustion and feeling unwell.

You can catch flu all year round but it is especially common in winter, which is why it is also known as ‘seasonal flu’.

Unfortunately a significant number of deaths occur each year as a result of complications caused by flu in elderly and at risk groups.

A flu vaccine, which protects you against this, is available free on the NHS if you are in an ‘at risk’ group. So people who are pregnant, aged 65 or older, have a long-term medical condition such as diabetes, heart disease, lung disease, kidney or neurological disease, have a weakened immune system, are a healthcare worker or carer live in a residential or nursing home you will be eligible.

For more information contact your GP surgery.

These jabs should be compulsory. It would save the country billions and would help us to avoid days off work etc...
I know there are paranoid doom mongers out there who say they contain all kinds but has it ever done anybody any harm? If so where?

I have had the jab, as also my GP, and four of my friends and we have all had head colds, snuffles and the rest shortly after. Sorry, not for me next year; I have been ill for 10 days!

That's why I don't bother with the flu jab
