Chef Nigel Haworth
AN EAST Lancashire restaurant has been ranked 36th out of Britain’s top restaurants by the Sunday Times.
Northcote in Langho, which is run by chef Nigel Haworth scored 9.4 out 10 in taste tests, putting it just under Dinner By Heston Blumenthal in Kensington, and third in the North West, after L’Enclume in Cartmel and Simon Radley at the Chester Grosvenor.
The Times said Northcote was a “haven for foodies in the North West”, that Nigel Haworth was an “ambassador for regionality”, and head chef Lisa Allen has become a “leading woman in what is still a male-dominated industry”.
The food was praised for being locally sourced, consistent, and complimented with a “hugely impressive wine list”.

The food there is lovely but you get tiny portions and costs that much you can't even afford a bag of chips on the way home. That is unless its changed from when I last went. Food was delicious shame they don't give you more of it.
For me Northcote is second to none. I've never had food that tasted better.
Nigel Haworth is a proper Lancashire hero as well, with what he's done for food from the region.

People like you who rubbish quality just because it is quality or the people who really appreciate a restaurant which really cares for its customers and produces consistently high standards? The Northcote food is terrific and the chefs are ordinary people with extraordinary skill and dedication.
Food snobbery.

so this was just done on taste ,not value for money ,service the all experiance.
You wouldn't have a shout serving something up at Snack 'n' Tan in Mill Hill for instance. Sadly no longer with us. It didn't really take off; the sunbed / cafe combo - a bacon butty and 10 minutes on the tri-tube stand up just wasn't a hit with the Blackburn public. Shame.
The restaurants that have a shout with this prize are known for being the high end of dining. Track suits aren't exactly the done thing therefore, but I'm fairly sure pretty much all diners want it that way, so who's to complain?
That means they are never competing with a 2 for 1 for value, and they aren't cheap accordingly.
That doesn't mean they are a rip off though. For what you get at Northcote for instance - which is the all experience - it isn't actually much more than your average high end pub these days. But with Northcote, for that extra, it's the most amazing food you'll ever have had. Genuinely. Go and taste it if you don't believe me.
The service is obviously top drawer for your dollar as well. As I'm guessing it is for all the restaurants featured in that Sunday Times list.

It's not food snobbery, honestly, it's just in a different league.

Rather have a McDonalds. Can't be wrong when millions around the world eat it.
I'm lovin it!
Them, Burger King, and KFC. And Subway.

Are you still flip flopping between bile inducing hatred to tear jerking pity for me incidentally? Or was that just last night?
Without wanting to cause alarm but it sounds like you may have some kind of bi-polar disorder.

There will only ever be a very small proportion of the population who both appreciate high quality food and can afford to pay for it, but it's just as well really, as if everyone wanted to eat good food there wouldn't be enough for those of us who enjoy it.
So on behalf of food lovers everywhere I would like to offer heartfelt thanks to McDonalds and their like for diverting the masses away from quality food and leaving it for us.
