THIS bird rhea-ly went astray yesterday after being spotted taking a look at graves in a cemetery.

Lancashire Telegraph reader Chris Garnett sent in the picture after spotting the creature while attending a funeral at Pleasington Cemetery in Blackburn.

The flightless rhea – a bird similar to an ostrich – belongs to farmer Michael Greenwood, of Moorland Farm, Billinge End Road, Pleasington. Mr Greenwood, who owns more than 60 of the birds, said: “There is a footpath and people come round with their dogs.

“When they aren’t on a lead and start running around it upsets the rheas.

“That is when they go wandering as they don’t tend to stick together.”

Mr Greenwood rounded up a group of helpers and retrieved the bird yesterday evening.

What sort of UPTODATE news is thyis. These birds are beuing kept on a farm at the top of the Cemetary and regularly escape. Seen them many times before as I am sure the office in the crematorium would confirm.

Short of something to put on heremaybe ??????
