Five women taken to hospital after crash in Hoddlesden

FIVE female friends were taken to hospital after the car they were travelling in crashed in a rural Darwen road.

Police were called to the accident in Roman Road, Hoddlesden, at 12.15am this morning, near to the Crown and Thistle pub.

Firefighters were needed to cut two of the women out of the car, and all of the occupants were taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital with what police describe as “minor injuries”.

Road blocks were put in place from the top of Marsh House Lane to the crash site, and the road was not reopened until 4.10am.

Police said no other vehicles were involved in the crash, and the 21-year-old driver has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
