Hyndburn Council to share its success

A BOROUGH council is to share the secret of its success with others after qualifying as high-quality trainers.

Hyndburn Council recently achieved the highest levels for standards in training and developing councillors.

It is now looking to share its best policies and practices with other authorities. The council was shown to have good principles in training councillors with a successful application to the North West Employers Organisation.

The council has held the charter since 2002 and was assessed in April 2012 to check if it still met the requirements for level one and, for the first time, whether it reached the higher standards for level two.

The charter aims not only to raise the profile of councillor development, but also to provide a focus for sharing good practice and learning with other councils.

To achieve level two, the council had to provide evidence that councillor development had made an impact on the community, councillors or the authority.
