Colne mum who had sex with boy jailed for two years

SHAME AND FEAR Mother-of-two Michelle Kay SHAME AND FEAR Mother-of-two Michelle Kay

A MOTHER-of-two, aged 40, from East Lancashire, who had sex twice with a teenage boy has been jailed for two years at Burnley Crown Court.

Michelle Kay began her seduction of the youngster by licking wine off his bare stomach, before the pair went on to have full sex, the court was told.

Her defence counsel claimed that the boy was ‘sexually experienced’, and it was not a case of an older woman ‘teaching’ a younger victim about the ways of the world.

But Judge Jonathan Gibson said: “This is a serious case. Indecent activity of this kind is deprecated by society.”

Kay, of Venables Avenue, Colne, had admitted four offences of sexual activity with a child, and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity shortly before she was due to stand trial at Preston Crown Court earlier this year.

Judge Gibson also imposed a five-year sexual offences prevention order, banning her from involvement with males aged under 18.

Kay must also sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.

Kathryn Johnson, prosecuting, said that on one occasion, when the boy was playing video games, she started to talk about sex toys.

Arrested and interviewed by police about the affair, she denied that any sexual activity had taken place.

James Heyworth, defending, said: “Clearly there is a huge element of shame attached to these offences that Michelle Kay has admitted, and she very much feels that.”

Reaching the age of 40 without any previous criminal convictions, she genuinely feared what would happen if she was sent to prison, added Mr Heyworth.

The boy was already sexually experienced and, while it was clear Kay should have known better, it was not a case of her ‘teaching a young man the ways of the world’.

The court heard that when Kay was confronted with the alleged affair, she agreed to take a ‘lie detector test’, arranged by an ‘expert’ from the Jeremy Kyle television show, which she apparently failed.
