Blackburn students go on the run for kids' charity

BLACKBURN students are raising money for children’s cancer charity KidsCan with a ‘jailbreak’.

Manchester University’s Callum Hoyle, 19, and Laura Cotton, 20, from Feniscowles, will have 30 hours to get as far out of the city as possible without spending any money.

French and Spanish student Callum said: “We raise money by people sponsoring us per mile so the further away we can get, the more money we can raise – the event relies on the kindness of strangers.

“We’d like sponsorship and also if anybody would be generous enough to donate train or even plane tickets, that would be great because we are no longer able to just turn up at the airport without tickets.”

In past years, students have got as far as Hong Kong, Cape Town and New York. Callum and Laura are setting off from Manchester University’s Student Union on Friday. To donate, visit www.justgiving.com/CallumandLauraJailbreak.
