By Andy Neild »

BLACKBURN Rovers manager Mark Hughes has released Peter Enckelman, Stephane Henchoz and Bruno Berner as he begins his plans for next season.

It comes as a double blow over the weekend for goalkeeper Enckelman, whose first-half blunder in Saturday's FA Cup final gifted Portsmouth victory over Cardiff.

The Finn had been on loan at the Championship side since January in a bid to earn regular first-team action.

Since joining Rovers from Aston Villa in January 2004, he had made just two Premier League appearances.

Defender Henchoz, who signed for Rovers two summers ago, failed to make a single appearance this season.

Former Swiss international Berner, meanwhile, made four appearances this term.

Good luck to Peter especially. Logical departures though, really. What about the young lads? We seem to release some excellent prospects every year. The lower leagues are full of our players. Just not quite Prem standard, I know.

Enckleman was all over the telly on Saturday, Trev, and, to be fair, Henchoz did a great job for Rovers in the 90s before going to Liverpool, although I didn't really see the point of him comiing back to the club from Wigan, except maybe as cover.

Mikel Forrsell is out of contract this summer, i know he's injury prone, but i've always felt when he's fit he'll replicate that blisterin first season he had at Birmingham. He's missed loads of games this season but still scored 9 goals in just 21 Premiership apprearences this season, so that shows he's still got the quality. He's available on a free, so at the very least he's be an asset to us financially.

Bradley and Huddlestone would be good quality signings too because they are young and talented (especially Bradley) and will accrue in value.

Bent's wont be off cause the sell on clause Arsenal have would negate the financial benefit of the deal.

Can't see more than 3 players coming in this summer, that being the case i'd plump for:

Michael Bradley
quality right back (in mold of warnock)
striker like Bellamy
poss Huddlestone too if we offload more fringe players.

RE: the striker, i wouldn't completely rule out Camerone Jerome from Brum. I think he has a lot of potential. Young (21), explosive pace, very good goals/games record and cheap price tag (2.5-3M) He had a pheonomenal strike rate at Cardiff and in the last 2 seasons he's scored 14 goals in 40 games BUT 30 of those games he came on as a sub so he hasn't played many minutes. Imagine how many goals he could score if he is playing regularly in a team with better service...

Robbie, Victor Moses would number 2 on my most wanted list behind Michael Bradley, i'd love us to sign him as he's real quality and definitley destined for great things, plus he's versatile, problem is most of the top clubs are sniffing around which will make it difficult for us to get him.

daniel, please can you stop it. Whilst at least you seem to have thought about some of your suggestions, its all irrelevant mate. Hughsey will sign whoever he wants to sign, and whats more, it won't be any over priced average players like jerome, huddlestone or forsell. I'm sorry to disappoint you, and i know you won't like this, but i am a genuine fan, and i am right!

i think huddestone would be a good buy. hes a young player with a lot of ability he can score goals on his day and is a great passer of tugay quality
i bet people who are wanting to sign this bradley so much havent even seen him play, lets face it heerenveen games or huever he plays for arent really readily available over here are they.
as for bellamy even though i dont like the guy i think him and santa cruz wud b a fairly explosive partnership. and forssell?? i dont see him worth the risk at all, a big disappointment from early promise at chelsea
chimbonda would be one of the players top of my list. a quality right back available 4 decent price

I can exclusively reveal the contract that offered Owen Coyle offered me: >Three quarters of a bottle of some disgusting lady drink called 'Benedictine' or something. >A box of signed Chico merchandise >Several dusty packages containing 'BFC - We've made the play offs' flags (unopened) >Some lucky pebbles >A weekly go on the village goat >A voucher redeemable at Brendan’s new "Turf Moor Bowl-o-rama" that let's me have a free go on 'Outrun' >A bit of string that used to have blimp on the end >A chance to have a go in the Bertie Bee costume >A barrel of Claret’s Extra Bitter (named after the way they feel about Rovers). Obviously I told ‘em to shove it!

Ron, this is an open forum and the point of it is largely to discuss transfer rumours and who you'd like to see us sign so i am perfectly entitled to my opinions. And as for "overpriced" Forrsell, he's available on a free.

Marc Torrejón Moya, (born 18 February 1986 in Barcelona) is a football player from Spain. He plays defender for RCD Espanyol in La Liga. With Espanyol team flying high in La Liga in 2007/08 season, Torrejón, together with other youngsters such as Daniel Jarque and Lola Smiljanic has risen to prominence under manager Ernesto Valverde.

Ferran Corominas Telechea also known as Coro (born January 5, 1983 in Girona) is a Catalan footballer, who plays for Espanyol in La Liga. He is notable for scoring the last minute winning goal for Espanyol against Real Sociedad on Saturday 13th May 2006; the 1-0 win just saved Espanyol's Primera División status, relegating Deportivo Alavés instead.

Daniel - good answer mate, fair enough. I just get a bit frustrated when you're tryin to convince people to spend our transfer and salary budget on players that we simply don't need, eg beh haim and now forsell. Rovers budget is very tight mate, if we sign ANY of the players you suggest, it would mean that we can't sign players for other areas. Michael bradley, yes, fair enough, so you read an article about this kid before the rest of us did, but you made your point weeks ago, and also, there are clubs with more maney than us chasing him, so don't get too excited. In the event, the players that hughsey signs will not have been suggested on here, the club doesn't work that way. Likewise, we aint gunna be signing england u21 players from spurs. To re-iterate though, you're quite right, you are entitled to your opinion, and i apologise for telling you to stop it. I'm going to carry on expressing mine too though. To be fair, if you keep suggesting, there will eventually be one that we agree on, i'm sure!! cheers

forsell would only cost us in wages as he is on a free. 20k a week would be my guess

jeppo, yorks says...
11:42am Tue 20 May 08

yeh, but if we're going to take 3/4 new players onto our wage bill, should one of them be a big centre forward who's not particularly pacey? For me, I'd ideally go for a quick winger (competition for Peds, or an option if bents plays central), a midfielder to play with Vogel, and possibly a quick centre forward who can work off either benni or roque. Beyond that, a quality (pacey!) right back wouldn't go amiss. We can't be spending 20k a week on players that aren't better than roque, benni or jason roberts.

Rovers Babe, Accrington says...
1:17pm Tue 20 May 08

There is nothing wrong with the strikers we have Benni will hopefully come back strong with Derbs and Roberts to come on and do a job. Just need another versatile midfielder to play anywhere across the middle and a similar Defender who can play naturally right back or in centre. Thats just 2 signings and see what happens. Everyone will spend big again but it does not guarantee anything look at West Ham and Spurs.

jeppo, yorks says...
2:50pm Tue 20 May 08

Hmm, rovers babe, I know what you mean, but surely dunny, reidy and bents can be classed as 'versatile' midfielders, and then ooijer and zurab as 'versatile' defenders, its a central midfielder thats 'better than versatile' we need, and a wide player that is quick, as a viable option to what we already have? Regarding derbs, he may well come back strong for next season, hence why my '3rd choice' as a signing would be a quick centre forward. I think we've got better 'versatile' players than most clubs, but we do need a bit more genuine pace in the side.
