Harrowing images of Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend Robert Maltby in their hospital beds have been released by their families and police.

Lancashire Police said that they, along with the victim's parents, wanted to show the true horror of the injuries following the attack in Stubbylee Park, Bacup.

The hospital pictures were taken just 48 hours after the attack.

Sophie was in a deep coma from which she never recovered.

She had 17 different injuries including bruises to her arms where she tried to defend her self and a gash on her head where she was kicked with enough force to split the scalp through her thick dreadlocks.

Robert, a door packer, has still not recovered fully from the attack.

God bless Sophie and all those affected by this.

The British lawmakers love drunlards, killers, murderers. That is why sentences are lenient. You see it affects THEIR 'Human Rights' and they want the rest of the world to follow them.

RIP, dear, beautiful Sophie. 20 years old, just 20. Why would anyone attack a girl like that? Because she was a goth - is that so threatening? How the families must be coping I cannot imagine.

As the Bible says - "An eye for an eye". These individuals will get their just rewards during their stay in custody!

There have been so many murders in the past few weeks , this for me is the one that is so so pointless and tragic , Sophies mother has been so strong and brave , compared to the scum parents of the convicted, I heard the boyfriend on 5 live and only hope he will in time be able to lead some kind of life, I am in my fifties and am sick and tired of this country and the way it is slowly dying , when will the politicians finally do something positive to rid normal decent people of filth like this ,
