EX-RAF St Eval personnel have been put on high alert this week for a reunion later in the year.

RAF St Eval Friends Reunited Association are trying to trace East Lancashire folk who served at the Cornish base, which became one of the largest operational stations under the control of 19 Group Mount Batten.

The group is particularly keen to contact Peter Jackson, who was there as a radio operator in the operations block in the mid 1950s.

A keen rugby player and runner, his last known address was in the Lancashire area.

Almost 1,000 RAF personnel were killed while serving at the base during World War Two. It was closed in 1959.

The association's next reunion is in October and you can further details from David Lockyer on 01202 729762.
