NELSON hairdresser Dorothy Lee qualified to enter the Austrian Grand Prix competition in the World Hairdressing Championships in Vienna, in 1963.
Mrs Lee, of Leeds Road, had won numerous competitions, both at home and abroad, during her career.
One of the judges was Jack Dewhurst, who had a salon in Standish Street, Burnley, and lived in Burnley Road, Padiham.
Although he had been a judge for several years, it was his first time adjudicating in a world championships.
Others who also qualified were Irene Singleton, of Clitheroe, and Ann Nuttall, of Sabden.
