Blackburn reader keen to trace roots

A READER trying to trace his family tree is seeking help from Looking Back.

Andrew Holden is researching his step-great grandfather, Robert Jones, who had a chain of grocery stores and cafes in Blackburn.

His business was launched in 1884 and one of his shops in Duckworth Street, seen here at the junction of Union Street, was still operating until the mid-sixties.

Andrew’s grandmother, Mary Jones, who was born in 1903 and lived in Darwen in her teens, later married a Holden.
