MEET the young football team which did not lose a game in the whole of 1961.

They played for Intack Primary School and that season they outplayed the field.

This photograph, sent in by Edgar Rourke of Cherry Tree, shows them proudly showing off their silverware.

The lads won the school league and also shared the Thornton Shield, the prize for the annual inter schools knock-out.

In the final at Ewood, Intack drew 0-0 with St Albans, which was again the final score in the subsequent replay. So the shield was shared by both schools for six months each.

The previous year, more than half the team had also won the Jubilee Shield, ensuring Intack was the school team of the early sixties.

Our photo shows back row, left to right Barry Duerden, Ian Marlowe, Malcolm Halsall, Eric Davies, Ian Eddlestone and Peter Sharples.

On the front row are John Dawson, Michael Greenhead, Edgar who was captain, vice captain Andrew Parkinson and Ian Ratcliffe.
