HALF a century ago, when John Smith was just a lad in Blackburn, he and his pals got together to make the longest flat wagon' in the world!
In the summer of 1958, every kid in the neighbourhood of Wensley Fold and St Mark's estate who owned one, gathered by his home in Rolleston Road and they all got busy bolting them together.
The result was a 15ft flattie - they were also known as soap boxes or bogies - which made front page news of the Northern Daily Telegraph.
John said this week: "I think that this momentous achievment should be remembered! The problem is that none of the few people I am still in contact with from all those years ago have the photograph.
"Do you think any of your readers might be able to help?"
