IT’S always good to see some real heroes being recognised for their work – and the bikers who transport lifesaving supplies across the region are bloody marvels.

The 150 volunteers of the North West Blood Bikes charity will get their moment to shine when they feature in a TV advert to demonstrate how they spend their National Lottery Funding.

The group have been ferrying blood, samples, medical supplies and case notes across Lancashire since 2012 – aiding everyone from crash victims to tiny babies.

It’s the kind of work that often goes unseen – you wouldn’t know about it unless you were thrown into the type of emergency they help tackle.

So, we’re delighted to be able to throw the spotlight on the work they do and the commitment they show.

Here’s a few extra facts to make you realise just how important they are: l They cover an area of 3,000 square miles l This year, they hit the milestone of 15,000 rides.

These mind-blowing figures back up what a vital role they play.

What’s more, they do it as a group of mates so enjoy the social side of coming together for the common good.

Long may they continue to ride to the rescue.
