RE: Shuiab Khan: ‘If Blackburn is not good enough for you then find a better place You can make Blackburn a better place by getting rid of Labour-controlled council as it doesn’t believe in private investments.

The young man who wanted to build luxury flats around Montague Street was turned down by Labour councillors, You need to vote a party that brings in investment and jobs in your town. I was born and bred in Blackburn I think the Labour-controlled council has made a mess of our town and didn’t help traders with free parking.

The regeneration money was used to make Blackburn town centre vibrant again but Labour destroyed the night-life.

The Mall shopping centre is the only shopping hub left in Blackburn while the decline around Darwen Street, Northgate, King William Street and King Street are deserted by shoppers.

We need investment in our town in retail and leisure industries and a vibrant night-life in Blackburn town centre. Even the bowling alley has shut down.

The cathedral project – one small hotel, two office blocks, clergy courts and a bus station is not something to be proud of, if a town’s retail industry has shrunk and nightlife been decimated.

I live on the border between Blackburn and Preston and I prefer Preston for shopping and nightlife because of the lack of choices in Blackburn.
