A BRITISH rising star is to perform at Oswaldtwistle Civic Arts Centre.
Lucy Ward is a British singer and recent winner of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Horizon award for best newcomer.
The guitarist and concertina player from Derby performs traditional English folk songs as well as her own material. Her debut album, Adelphi Has to Fly from Navigator Records, was released in mid-June to critical acclaim.
Earlier this year the 21-year-old singer released a single, For the Dead Men, a self-penned protest song, coupled with a remixed version of Maids When You’re Young. This was produced by Stu Hanna, from folk band Megson who also performs on the two tracks, with his wife Debbie Hanna providing backing vocals.
Lucy is appearing at the Oswaldtwistle venue on Saturday, September 15. Tickets are £7.50 and are available by ringing 01254 398319 or going to www.ticketsource.co.uk/civicartscentre or by calling in to either the Civic Arts Centre Oswaldtwistle or Accrington Town Hall.
