Blues legend in Barnoldswick gig

A BLUES legend from the swamps of Louisiana saunters into West Craven on Thursday night.

Harmonica player extraordinaire Lazy Lester, 89, a 2012 inductee into the Blues Hall of Fame in Memphis, Tennessee, has a date at The Fountain Inn, in Barnoldswick.

The gig, from 9pm, is a coup for the Church Street bar, known as The Barlick before a substantial revamp.

Lester was raised mostly in the suburbs of Baton Rouge and received his first big break from Lightnin’ Slim.

He went on to become a mainstay of the Excello label and had hits throughout the 1950s and 1960s, including I’m A Lover Not A Fighter and I Hear You Knockin’.

He has a number of dates across the North West.
