THE headline performance in Rossendale Players 2012-13 season will be Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers.
The Liverpool-set play was the inspiration for the hit musical, and will be staged by the players in January.
Readings and casting dates for the full season have been announced, starting next week.
Opening the season will be Therese Raquin, an adaptation of the Emile Zola novel, which is due for release on the big screen next year.
Therese and her lover Laurent murder her husband, but he revisits them as a ghost after their marriage, slowly turning their love into an all-consuming hatred.
Players will read the thriller on July 10, will cast it on July 17 and will stage it from September 22 to 29.
The ‘highly-entertaining comedy’ My Friend Miss Flint follows, telling the tale of Tom Lambert and his ex-wife’s fictional creation Joanna Flint - who was dreamt up as a tax dodge, which has been rumbled.
The November play will be read on July 23 and cast on July 30.
Blood Brothers, the tragic tale of twin brothers separated at birth who chance upon each other as boys, will be read on July 24, and cast on July 26.
Lightening the mood, Laying The Ghost will be staged in March, with reading planned for August 15 and casting on August 22.
Set in a retirement home for actors, one of the residents is being reluctantly reminded that it is her 70th birthday when fellow resident Sir Leo has a fatal heart attack - although hangs around in ghostly form, setting the scene for a lot of laughs.
Closing the season will be Going Straight, in June next year, which tells the story of two ex-gangsters and their wives meeting up on the Costa del Crime to re-live their 1960s’ London glory days.
Its reading is planned for August 6 and it will be cast on August 8.
Company spokeswoman Hazel Mrozek said: “Rossendale Players’ next season is set to be another fabulous one, with five very different plays, ranging from thriller, comedy, farce and the ever-popular play, Blood Brothers.
“If you are interested in joining the players, please come along, attend the read throughs and meet the company.”
All the read throughs and castings will be held at 7.30pm at the New Millennium Theatre, in Waterfoot.
