What's on: Schools Out For Rangers Day, June 24

SINGERS and musicians from schools and colleges throughout Burnley and Pendle will be taking part in a special fun day concert in Thompson Park on Sunday.

The event, Schools Out For Rangers Day, will run from 11am until 4pm.

The park will be filled with activities, including a funfair for all ages, stalls, fire service display, barbecue and much more, creating what promises to be a wonderful day for all the family.

On the live music stage, PCSO Des West, who with the neighbourhood policing team has organised the event, will be compering the event.

The live music will continue throughout the day featuring some of the best young performers from the area, begining with solo singer Michael Thomas.

Also on the bill are the band Psychic Diffusion from Sir John Thursby; solo singers Amanda Anders, Bradley Porter, Katie Hartley-Green from Hameldon College; the Swamp Donkeys from Unity College, Shuttleworth have Binary Law and Blessed Trinity promote Rabbits in Headlights.

Urban Empire will appear from Burnley College and there will be a special guest appearance from signed artist Nicole Talmer, who starred last year at Towneley Live alongside Mc Fly and N-Dubz.

Doc Redeye Events (co-organisers of the Burnley Rock and Blues Festival) are helping to promote the concert alongside the neighbourhood policing team.

Steve Reid of Doc Redeye Events said: “The aim is to bring communities and schools together through music, giving young people the chance to show their talents on a public stage with a full sound system.

“We are hoping this will be the start of a yearly showcase for young people to truly demonstrate what they can do.”

Admission to the event is free.
