BIG name comedy, live music and the voice of golf are all heading to Burnley Mechanics as part of the venue’s autumn and winter programme.

The varied line-up will feature some of the country’s leading stand-ups including Mark Watson, Rob Rouse, Paul Chowdhry and Sean Hughes.

Leading musical comedy duo Frisky and Mannish and legendary entertainer Jim Bowen are also lined up to perform at the Mechanics.

The award-winning Hull Truck Theatre will be bringing the classic tale of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde to life and the exotic Ladyboys of Bangkok will be returning with a new show.

Lovers of live music will be well served with renowed vocalist Mary Coughlan, female-fronted rock band Karnataka and Ex Simple Minds featuring Derek Forbes and Brian McGee all included on the programme.

Some of the country’s leading tribute bands are also coming to the Mechanics, including Pink Floyd tribute Off The Wall performing the entire Wish You Were Here album; Re-Take That, the ELO Experience and One Night of Queen.

For younger theatregoers, Cbeebies favourites Chris and Pui return and Ballet Theatre UK present a seasonal spectacular with A Christmas Carol.

A couple of one-man shows worth noting are golf commentator Peter Alliss talking about his life and Radio 2 and 6Music DJ and best selling author Stuart Maconie in conversation.

For the festive season the Mechanics will be holding four Christmas parties featuring live bands offering different types of music including East Lancashire’s leading soul band The Soultrain, tribute bands iRock and the Kaiser Monkey Killers and the nine-piece Detriot Soul band.
