BRITAIN’S most favourite ‘twitcher’ Bill Oddie will be making a flying visit to the Ribble Valley this autumn when Clitheroe’s Grand Theatre hosts an evening with the popular broadcaster on October 15.

Oddie has established a reputation as one of Britain’s most respected ornithologists and conservationists and will also be taking a colourful look back at his career in TV.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Oddie was best known to television viewers as one third of the smash hit comedy series The Goodies, also featuring Tim Brooke Taylor and Graeme Garden.

His many wildlife programmes made him a household name, though, and have included Springwatch/Autumnwatch, Wild in Your Garden and Bill Oddie Goes Wild.

In the recent BBC series of Who Do You Think You Are?, Oddie traced some of his family roots to the Ribble Valley villages of Chatburn and Grindleton.

“I have a lot of family roots in Lancashire, so I’m looking forward to visiting Clitheroe and seeing the Grand,” said Oddie.

“Lancashire is an area of country I’ve always enjoyed visiting.”
