PERFORMERS are stepping back in time to the 60s in a musical debut for East Lancashire.

Accrington Theatre Group will stage new musical Shout! at Oswaldtwistle Civic Theatre from Tuesday to Saturday, June 17 to 21.

Shout! – the Mod musical – is set in and around the offices of the iconic teenage magazine of the same name.

A spokesman said: “The musical has never been produced in the region before and it’s been something of a coup for ATG to present is not long after its professional run.”

“Shout! features huge hits from the 60s, by the likes of Lulu and Dusty Springfield, the musical allows the all-female cast to shine and they’re sure to bring the house down with some great singing voices between them.

“There is comic and racy dialogue and a brilliant compilation of songs.

“It’s likely to be a great night out with the option of table seating for groups right next to the stage.”

In preparation for opening night, the cast performed excerpts from the show at Townfield and Coach House Care Home in Great Harwood last night.

John Timmins, from the home, said: “It’s great that the cast is taking time to come and perform for some of the residents who wouldn’t otherwise be able to see this great show.”

ATG director, Howard Raw said: “The society ha really got its performing teeth into the great music in Shout!

“We’ve put in so much hard work and the quality of the performers will really shine through. The songs are all instantly recognisable to all ages and we’re looking for a fantastic atmosphere.”
