TOP TV comic Jimmy Cricket will be the headline act for the first of a new monthly series of Alf Wright’s Afternoon Variety Shows at King George’s Hall, Blackburn.

The popular Irish comedian will top the bill of the new-look variety show which will be compered by Glen South on Wednesday, April 16.

Glen is already well-known to theatregoers in East Lancashire for hosting the monthly variety event at Darwen’s Library Theatre Also in the line-up for the first show are Katie Scarlett, vocalist with Scarlett’s Web, and duo Emjay featuring former High-Jinx singer Judith.

Admission is £4 (£3 for Darwen residents) with the show starting at 2pm and free tea and biscuits available in the interval.

The afternoon variety shows have also been confirmed for Wednesday, May 14 and Wednesday, June 18 with some big names expected to be announced The next show at darwen Library Theatre will be on Wednesday, April 2 and will feature Sister Sister, Tacklers Brew and Sarah Louise.
