CAST members of Pendle Hippodrome Theatre Company’s spring musical took over the Regency Room at Townley Hall this weekend.

In preparation for Singing In The Rain, with runs at the New Market Street, Colne, theatre from March 19 to 23, principal actors Josh Hindle, Helen Atkinson, Elizabeth Rowell and David Smith were filmed by John and Margaret Morgan of Pendle Movie Makers.

The group, led by show director Richard Sanderson, were filming scenes for the musical, which tells the story of silent movie star Don Lockwood and the moment when the silver screen found its voice and never looked back.

PHTC spokesman Milly Greenwood said: “It was like being on a proper film set with me rushing up and re arranging wigs and wardrobe sorting out the dressers after every take and Richard shouting silence and cut after every scene in his jacket with ‘director’ on the back.

“We even had an audience, as visitors to the hall were allowed to watch the filming from a cordened off area, which made it all very official.”

Tickets cost £12 for adults, £10 concessions and £8 for under 19s, from Discover Pendle, Boundary Mill Stores, Colne, online at www.phtheatre.co.uk or by calling the booking secretary on 01282 612402 evenings and weekends.

n Anyone interesting in joining the Hippodrome’s Dad’s Army can attend a read through for a stage version of the TV sitcom in the theatre bar tonight.

A spokesman said: “Meet our director Angela Boult and read through the script and get a feel for the plot and available characters. There are a large number of roles available for both men and women.”

The play will run from June 5 to 8.
