ROSSENDALE Players are to host a play reading in the new year.
Sleepers Awake will be read on January 10, at 7.30pm, at the society’s New Millennium Theatre base in Waterfoot.
The Alan Griffiths comedy sees Ron and Jenny Rainbow and their daughter Sharon settling into their new home – and preparing for their daughter’s wedding with the help of neighbour Doreen.
It is then that unexpected visitor, Ivan a KGB agent, arrives to ‘activate them’, believing they are sleeping agents for the Russians. Luckily, MI5 agent George Phipps-Sanderson steps in to save the day.
A spokesman said: “All are welcome, this not a casting night. We read the play, say what we think and recommend it – or not as the case may be – to the play selection committee, all over a brew.”
