FORMER amateur performers are making their East Lancashire comeback this week as part of Thwaites Empire Theatre’s 10th anniversary celebrations.
Debut was formed in 2005, staging musicals and compilations at the Blackburn venue until summer 2009 – when many of its central members and artistic director Roger Nuttall moved away to pursue professional training.
The Magic Of Musicals sees Roger and his Debut professionals, including Nicola Arvino from Blackburn and Natalie Graham from Accrington, join forces with other local amateurs to showcase songs from the shows and Roger’s own magic act.
He said: “Coming back to Thwaites once more is a real privilege; we started life at here, and thanks to the support of the theatre staff and the audience we were able to take my crazy idea and turn it into a successful theatre company, which ran for four years.
“We worked with local charities to produce sell out shows as well as running our summer school and staging full-scale musicals.”
- The Magic Of Musicals, Debut, Friday and Saturday, 7.30pm. Tickets £12 from 01254 685500.
