Croydon Schools Football Associations U11 side made it 10 wins in 10 matches when they travelled to Orpington on Saturday.
But they were somewhat fortunate to come away with a 3-2 victory in the quarter-final of the English Schools Area Eleven Gills Shield.
Tommy Kavanagh (St James the Great School) put Croydon ahead after 17 minutes and an own goal 10 minutes after half time made it 2-0.
Orpington reduced the arrears but Aarron Miller (Davidson) made it 3-1 with 10 minutes remaining. Orpington scored again in the last minute of the match.
But Croydon Schools U13s lost to Islington & Camden, 1-0 in a London Schools FA Gill Cup quarter-final tie at Croygas.
Croydon keeper, David Wilkinson (Shirley High School) turned in an outstanding performance but Islingtons goal in the 25th minute of the match was all that separated the two sides in an evenly-contested encounter.

Rev Kevin Logan column: Silly season’s here. Politicians holiday on the Costa Mini-carbon-footprint, parasitical political pundits shut up shop and their laptops, and editors panic over who/what will occupy tower blocks of news columns.
Helen Mead column: Beat the credit crunch? No problem. I reckon I’ve got it beaten.
Harry Nuttall column: It was one of my first stories in the Last Sports, the Saturday night “Pink”, and in it I was highly critical of the poor facilities at Blacksnape Playing Fields.
