The wait is over as the final three compete to be crowned Strictly champions 2010. Over the last three months we have had highs, lows and Ann and Anton to get us all in the pantomime spirit. What a series! But for me they are all winners.

Matt & Aliona's samba

Craig 9 Len 9 Alisha10 Bruno 10 Total 38

A fantastic opening routine to the show. Matt has a really good samba action that he lost slightly on his samba walks, then he danced a series of barrel rolls that are not easy to do and controlled them very well, then as expected he showed us his back flips. Well done Matt a very clean and confident performance.

Kara & Artem's rumba

Craig 9 Len 10 Alisha 10 Bruno 10 Total 39

Rumba is the dance of love and you could feel every emotion emanating through the screen. It was truly beautiful and another professional performance as we have come to expect from these two. Easily a ten.

Pamela & James' Viennese waltz

Craig 10 Len 10 Alisha 10 Bruno 10 Total 40

Pamela is a true lady of dance and this was a superbly executed routine with pure passion and technique. As Len said ‘the best three couples are in the final’ and for Pamela to receive three full houses over the series is a record in itself.

Matt & Aliona's showdance

Craig 7 Len 9 Alisha 9 Bruno 9 Total 34

A very clean and neat routine and very well rehearsed. However, I did not understand the flow or the story they were trying to portray. Excellent tricks it just was just lacking in dance content for me. This could have cost Matt, who was the bookies' favourite, the trophy.

Kara & Artem's showdance

Craig 9 Len 9 Alisha 9 Bruno 9 Total 36

This was a true showdance - exactly how it should be danced. A showdance routine should be based around one of the five ballroom or five Latin American dances and should tell a story, use exciting lifts to show the relationship and trust between the partnership. It did all that. Yes, there were one or two little stumbles but what a full on fast routine with very difficult lifts and tricks. You cannot deny Kara owns the dancefloor, I would have scored it a ten just for effort.

Pamela & James's showdance

Craig 9 Len 9 Alisha 9 Bruno 10 Total 37

A very clean, well-polished mambo routine. Not quite a showdance routine but a very good job, and Pamela you were looking A-MA-ZING. However, it did not quite push my button as I have come to expect this standard of dance from these two. As it was their last chance to wow us, I expected more.

Grand final

Kara & Artem and Matt & Aliona were then declared the final two in the competition and from the judges and studio audiences' reaction it was not expected. As already stated they have all brought so much to the competition but do I agree with the decision for Pamela & James not to make it.

Matt & Aliona's paso doblé

Craig 9 Len 8 Alisha 9 Bruno 9 Total 35

I was not keen on this interpretation of the paso. There were some strange lines from Matt and the use of body ripples was completely over done. Even some of the hand gestures were very effeminate and his chasse capes were way too high on his toes.

Kara & Artem's waltz

Craig 9 Len 9 Alisha10 Bruno 10 Total 38

I was not overly impressed with Kara’s waltz either. There were timing and footwork issues and top line problems. Kara is very graceful and oozes performance but I have seen them dance better and did not think it deserves a ten. Later we found out Kara had sustained an injury from their previous show dance routine so was obviously in a lot of pain, which explained their demonstration.

Matt & Aliona's Viennese waltz

Craig 9 Len 9 Alisha 10 Bruno 9 Total 37

Out came the garden swing again! A graceful lilting waltz. There was flat-footed moments and his left elbow was too high, but it did move and flow well around the floor.

Kara & Artem's American smooth (foxtrot)

Craig 10 Len 7 Alisha 10 Bruno 10 Total 37

An unbelievable performance from these two, I loved it the first time and thought they danced it even better, truly professional musicality, and just to dance with an injury (which is why Kara missed out the travelling splits I presume) did not spoil it one little bit. For Len to score a 7 because of the ‘in hold’ content for a final dance was a little hypocritical, especially as they only missed one element and Matt missed three and scored a nine. Just because you were ill you did not need to take it out on the best celebrity performer Strictly has ever seen.

So the winner of Strictly come Dancing 2010 is… Kara & Artem. Easily deserved and best of luck with Artem in the future! I am sure everyone will agree with me when I say we have been honoured to see your relationship blossom over the last three months and look forward to seeing more of you both on the dancefloor.

That about raps it up for 2010, but don’t forget the Christmas Special 7pm BBC 1 Christmas Day.

Until next time, have a wonderful peaceful Christmas and New Year. Keep happy, Keep healthy, and Keeeeeep dancing.
