Five couples become four for our semi final weekend, as the temperature heats up outside can our two remaining girls keep it hot and make us all melt with their performances, as the guys battle it out for one of them to get through to the final.

We have two eliminations on Sunday which means that one of our top running contestants who has wowed us over the last eleven weeks must go as well. Here is our Graham with a quick reminder...

Fridays show was a bit of a let down, although there were some improvement on Saturday night but we must lose one of the top running contenders on Sunday.

The decision is yours!

Friday

Pamela and James:Paso Doblé Craig 8, Len 9, Alisha 9, Bruno 9, Total:35

A good strong characterisation of this powerful march, Pam’s shoulder line was still a little high in places and there was a stumble, but it was a hot performance, full of passion a very difficult dance for the girl as it is all based around the Matador.

Kara and James : Viennese Waltz Craig 9, Len 10, Alisha 10, Bruno 10, Total: 39

A beautiful simple entrance pure on control and effortless looking which is how it should be danced.

Kara has a lovely top line and her arm extensions go on for miles.

She did seem a little nervous and needed to bring her feet together more which made it a little skippy in places, but these two are amazing together and definitely deserve to be in the final, even with the lift at the end which should have cost them a point.

Gavin and Katya : Samba Craig 6, Len 7, Alisha 7, Bruno 7, Total: 27

Not a bad attempt from Gavin as the Samba is very difficult for the man to look masculine.

He did however dance the whole routine on bent knees rather than one relaxed and one straight, and his rhythm and timing were behind Katya, who did look as if she had to spur him on.

He has improved the most out of all the competitors but for me it was not a finalist’s demonstration.

Scott and Natalie : Argentine Tango Craig 8, Len 8, Alisha 8, Bruno 9, Total: 33

A very clean performance from Scott, but the whole thing was too stiff in the knees and the upper body had no relaxation or fluidity.

The big lift at the end, even though impressive, did not help him either.

They have obviously worked very hard on the steps this week but Natalie has forgotten about his technique and did look as if she was only out on the floor for herself a couple of times.

Matt and Aliona :Salsa Craig 7, Len 7, Alisha 7, Bruno 7, Total: 28

A lovely mambo routine from these two this week but Salsa, saucy and sexy it was not.

Matt looked extremely uncomfortable, his timing was all over the place on the turns and the section on the floor made me cringe, I would even go as far as saying it was Matt’s worse dance and could have cost him the final.

Swing-athon

This was either going to be a disaster or amazing.

I thought it was the first, as this is how a true dancing competition is run, and it takes years of experience to hold your own on the floor with several other couples and build up enough stamina to dance for such a long time, and just from a technical point of view it is very hard to film.

All the couples looked very nervous, as did some of the pros, but I did agree with all the judges scores.

Kara and Artem: 5 points

Matt and Aliona: 4 points

Pamela and James: 3 points

Scott and Natalie: 2 points

Gavin and Katya: 1 point

This could even be the result for the final!

SATURDAY

Scott and Natalie :Charleston Craig 8, Len 9, Alisha 9, Bruno 9, Total: 35

Oh dear!

Several timing issues and Scott looked as if he was messing up from the word go, there were however glimpses of comedy and his Charleston action was not horrendous by any means, but it looked half danced rather than full on.

Kara and Artem : Rumba Craig 9, Len 10, Alisha 10, Bruno 10, Total: 39

A very good Rumba action from Kara, (like we expected any less) very well danced and performed.

Their trick is that they dance together for each other and then for us, with that true portrayal of a horizontal desire through every move, (my mother would be proud of me for wording it that way) I hope something does happen between them romantically off the dance floor when the competition has ended, stunning.

Matt and Aliona:Tango Craig 9, Len 10, Alisha 10, Bruno 9, Total: 38

There were some very nice step patterns in their Tango routine and they did move round the floor very well, but there were several footwork issues with Matt and some of the choreography was almost Paso Doblé in style, but saying all of that their body contact, floor craft, and staccato was not too bad.

Gavin and Katya : Viennese Waltz Craig 6, Len 9, Alisha 8, Bruno 8, Total: 31

Sorry Gavin you danced 7/8 of the routine off time but even Katya was off time for some parts and she did not make any attempt to bring you back.

Your upper body control and lilting action was good but the music and your partner let you down which has cost you the final.

Pamela and James: Quickstep Craig 10, Len 10, Alisha 10, Bruno 10, Total: 40

The solo section at the beginning was fantastic and easily deserving of a ten, however I found the rest of the routine a little gimmicky and there were some footwork issues on the Barrel Rolls, but know one can deny the lady can move!

SUNDAY RESULTS SHOW

A wafty beginning from our Strictly Come Dancing show dancers with a Paso cape routine, Gavin and Katya and Scott and Natalie did not quite make it to the final but I think it could have gone either way between Scott and Matt, Kara, Pamela and Matt are our finalists but they are all winners in my eyes.

The final is next Saturday 7’0 clock BBC 1 with estimated viewing numbers of over sixteen million.
