AFTER last weeks amazing Halloween special and next week when our celebrities get to dance in the Mecca for Ballroom Dancing, Blackpool Tower, the competition has never been so intense, to loose out at this stage must be even more devastating.

As the fireworks light up the evening skies, who will light up the Ballroom floor and who will fizzle out like a wet sparkler?

Simon & Kristina Quickstep C7 D9 L9 B8 T33 Simon’s performance keeps getting stronger every week; he really is a strong contender now. A very well controlled quality Quickstep, there were a couple of little footwork issues but what a show stopping performance.

Caroline & Pasha Waltz C7 D8 L8 B8 T31 An elegant Waltz demonstration, however it did look as if Caroline was struggling ever so slightly and was very tight in her shoulders which then affected her top line, but a very emotive performance.

Jake & Janette Rumba C6 D7 L7 B7 T27 The hardest dance for any male to master and to give the Rumba its true fluidity and soft approach whilst still making it ooze love and perform strength is extremely difficult, and overall Jake did a good job, he has a good hip action developing and although I could not see his footwork for all the dry ice, there were a few places where he could have perhaps been a little more confident in his approach.

Judy & Anton Paso Doblé C3 D5 L5 B5 T18 Judy started out very confidently and her acting skills and personality really shone through, but as the routine progressed it lost a little power and shaping of the dance, in saying that Anton did not look as if he was having to over lead Judy.

Sunetra & Brendan Foxtrot C7 D8 L8 B8 T31 Sunetra performs every dance with such conviction and heart felt emotion, I did feel though that the routine lacked a little light and shade and seemed a little rushed, which then lost flow and flight, but they dance beautifully together.

Alison & Aljaz Charleston C6 D7 L7 B7 T27 I could not help but smile from ear to ear whilst watching their performance this week, a lovely interpretation of a cheeky Charleston with a great basic action from Alison and strong kicks, great choreography and great power throughout.

Mark & Karen Waltz C7 D8 L8 B8 T31 I think the competition between Mark & Simon is very close as Mark’s performance is very well styled; he does however need a little more work on his arm lines and then the sway and lilting action could be improved slightly, but a very convincing Waltz routine.

Frankie & Kevin Samba C7 D8 L9 B8 T32 A sexy, sophisticated, full on Samba, that showed true carnival spirit, I could however tell that they had maybe not had as much time in the rehearsal room as normal this week, which is down to Frankie’s hectic schedule, but you are a true contender Frankie keep it up.

Pixie & Trent Foxtrot C9 D10 L8 B9 T36 A very fluid Foxtrot with beautiful control and poise, there was a great story line to their routine and they dance very well together, it did feel like an American foxtrot though and Pixie was a little too far to her left when in closed hold.

Steve & Ola Paso Doblé C6 D8 L7 B7 T28 Great cape work from Steve at the beginning of their routine, Steve’s power, energy and attack were right on the money, I thought some of the travelling steps were a little skippy at times, but a well choreographed Paso.

A red hot, roaring remembrance Jive performance from our professionals. But with Alison & Aljaz and Caroline & Pasha in the dreaded dance off!

Neither of them deserved to be there and the judges had a really tough decision as both couples danced their socks off, but they did make the right decision and Caroline & Pasha get to come to Blackpool.

But Alison if you are ever in Lancashire and would like to dance with someone at the Tower give me a call, I would be honoured to fling you around the floor.
