One down and fourteen to go until we crown the strictly celebrity champion 2014, its Movie week and with an opening that was more like the pantomime of horrors and I really don’t understand why Craig, Len and Bruno sang “there is no business like show business”!!!

Let’s please leave the singing to Donny Osmond the guest star judge in tonight’s show and the other programme on the other side, but back to what we do best, the dancing.

Alison & Aljaz – Jive C4, D5, D7, L6, B6 T28 A lively “Footloose” jive from these two, to open the movie week show again though as with her Cha Cha Alison needed to be higher on the balls of the feet to create a true Jive feeling, but a good strong kicking action is developing.

Steve & Ola – Quickstep C6, D7, D6, L7, B8, T34 “King of the Swingers” and although it had energy and performance, when in hold it was a little wild in parts but for such a big guy Steve is definitely light on his feet.

Jennifer & Tristan – Foxtrot C3, D5, D5, L5, B5, T23 “Mamma Mia” but for me it was ‘oh my, oh my’ there was very little foxtrot content and it was very flat and unflowing, I thought the choreography was very strange but in keeping with the music and Jennifer did look a little less nervous than last week.

Simon & Kristina – Rumba C4, D6, D7, L6, B7 T30 “Take my breath away” and it very nearly did a very convincingly danced Rumba, great fluidity and passion throughout it was very engaging there were however a few heel leads and why Kristina wore a white shirt over her costume beats me!

Julie & Anton – Quickstep C3, D5, D5, L5, B5, T23 “Rain on my Parade” and it was a little cold and damp for me, but a great lively performance from these two this week. There where some good shimmering signs of well executed figures but the illegal lift was very well demonstrated.

Tim & Natalie – Charleston C2, D5, D5, L5, B5, T22 “Money Money” from Cabaret but it was more like a wall street crash, the routine was very flat and the use of props all went horribly wrong, I would have preferred to see simpler routines with good basic dancing so that Tim could master it more.

Caroline & Pasha – Rumba C8, D8, D9, L8, B9, T42 “I don’t want to miss a thing” from Armageddon and I didn’t want to miss one step, a very convincing Rumba performed beautifully, a little more work on finishing some of the leg lines but amazing true content and connection.

Scott & Joanne – Samba C2, D5, D7, L5, B6, T25 “Under the sea” from Little Mermaid and Scott did drown a little although the entertainment value was good, Scott is very pigeon toed, flat footed and his Samba action was quite wild and uncontrolled but a good lively attempt.

Frankie & Kevin – Paso Doblé C8, D9, D10, L9, B9, T45 “America” from West Side Story a truly amazing show performance. Frankie’s arm lines and positions are truly fantastic, it was however a little disjointed in the Paso Doblé content and Frankie needed to bring her feet together on the closing steps but an amazing show stopping routine.

Jake & Janette – Waltz C8, D8, D8, L8, B8, T40 “Theme to the Godfather” an extremely difficult waltz song choice to dance to but the characterisation and drama was very well acted, it did have the feel of an Argentinean Waltz or a ¾ Tango but very well danced.

Pixie & Trent – Quickstep C7, D9, D9, L9, B9, T43 “Be our Guest” from beauty and the beast an amazingly light and flowing quickstep with true intricate footwork and high kicks, a very convincing quality quickstep demonstration and a greatly well matched couple.

Thom & Iveta – Charleston C7, D8, D7, L8, B8, T38 “New York New York” from ‘On the Town and Thom was right on the money with his Charleston, very light footed with a great Charleston action and comedy feel, a very well presented routine and another well matched couple.

Sunetra & Brendan – American Smooth/Foxtrot C7, D8, D8, L9, B8, T40 “And the way they look tonight” a beautiful, very well controlled smooth Foxtrot, light fun and stylised a very clean performance danced very well with amazing choreography.

Mark & Karen – Paso Doblé C6, D6, D9, L7, B7, T35 “Superman theme” but was more like Super Mario it was very comedic in the timing and performance but as a Paso Doblé it was more bulloney than bull fight.

Sunday results show

A Mary Poppins “Step in Time” opening from our professional dancers this week, but Simon & Kristina in the bottom two What? Could this be some kind of voting stunt? Joined by Jennifer & Tristan.

Although both couples performance improved and I would have liked to see Jennifer last a few more weeks, we sadly say goodbye to them but thank goodness we see Simon & Kristina dance again, next week.
