COLNE actress Natalie Gumede left judges ‘spellbound’ as she received the first 10-point scores on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Natalie wowed the judges with her partner Artem Chigvintsev after gliding through the ballroom dancing a Viennese waltz.

Judge Len Goodman described it as ‘lovely’, while Bruno Tonioli told her she ‘leaves us all spellbound’.

Darcey Bussell said: “I expect so much from you but you never disappoint.” The couple scored 38, receiving the first 10 pointers of the year, courtesy of Mr Tonioli and Mrs Bussell.

The former Coronation Street star topped the leader board going into last night’s show, which saw Countdown presenter Rachel Riley voted off.

Hallowe'en night was far from scary for Natalie and Artem as their 'lady of the lake' Viennese Waltz picked up the first 10s of the series.

In a grey chiffon, ballerina length gown, Natalie danced like a dream, but Artem's choreography – while stunning – is letting her down from really wowing me in the ballroom as it had more an air of a classic waltz in an American smooth style, again with too much ‘general’ and not enough in hold.

The Viennese is tricky – there are only a few steps but the magic of it is in the constant spins and reverse spins while covering the dance floor at pace.

They only went into hold after a minute for fewer than 20 seconds. Scoring this week is tricky as what they performed was beautiful and worthy of a good 9.5, but for lack of traditional content I’m docking a point.
