4:43pm Friday 4th November 2011 in Stage: Show reviews
By Kimberley Hall, Online reporter
It may have been chilly outside but the wintry weather did little to cool the lively Tuesday night crowd.
Compere for the evening Will Duggan did a good job of firing up the audience ready for some quality acts.
Big Lou, acknowledging his ‘upside down’ head, and while reminding me of a scary beaver, enlightened us on the perils of growing up in the Manchester suburbs.
Daniel Kennedy’s set stood out a little as a weaker act.
While a couple of his jokes got a good reaction I was left feeling that I didn’t really ‘get’ him enough to find him funnier.
Chris Tavner restored proceedings with some amusing ditties before headline act Andrew Ryan took to the stage.
He was well-placed in the top spot as the bubbly, likeable Irishman discussed the perils of moving in with a girlfriend in his easy-to-listen-to lilt, and went down well in the intimate comedy club setting.
A night of ups and a couple of downs ended on a high.
Next up on December 13 Steve Shanyaski headlines folling his appearance on ITV’s Comedy Rocks with Jason Manford earlier this year.
