Doctor Who’s outgoing boss, Steven Moffat, says his last series will feel completely different.

The showrunner is stepping down after six years at the helm.

But his final instalment will not be more of the same.

“When I agreed to do one more run, I thought ‘Sod it, I’m not doing the march to the scaffold’,” Steven told Doctor Who magazine.

“I want it to feel like a brand new show. I want it to feel like episode one of a new series.

“I want to leave like it’s all just beginning.”

His comments come after Ralf Little “denied” online rumours that he is going into the show.

But as his video post was filmed from inside the Tardis, no-one’s convinced.

“I’m categorically stating here that I’m denying it. I’ve never seen Doctor Who, I’ve never even visited the set. I’ve never met the actors.

“I know nothing about it. Really I thought I’d invite you here to just hang out with me in not a car exactly … let’s just say a vehicle.

“Doctor Who nothing to do with me,” he said.

Peter Capaldi and new companion Pearl Mackie (Bill) have begun filming the 10th series of the BBC sci-fi show.

And casting director Andy Pryor told Doctor Who magazine: “Pearl has this sort of boldness, and an ability to tap into the humour of the part without making it an overtly comic performance.

“From the word go, she made the part her own. She found things in the part that none of us had envisaged, and she made Bill a rounded person.”

Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall is taking over from Moffat and his first series will air in 2018.
