Lord Of The Rings director Peter Jackson has fuelled rumours that he could take on Doctor Who, releasing a comedy skit where Time Lord Peter Capaldi pays him a visit.

The video shows Jackson polishing his Oscar statues while his daughter Katie reminds him about emails he has received from Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat.

Moffat has already expressed his hopes for the filmmaker to come on board, saying: “He’s a genuine big old Doctor Who fan. He’s mentioned it and then we email him and he doesn’t reply…

“I think his plan is we all go to New Zealand and spend six months making it and our plan is he comes to Cardiff and makes it in 12 days. There’s that disparity.”

In the video, Jackson complains about the “incoherent” emails from Moffat, saying: “I can’t even read them half the time.”

Suddenly, Capaldi bursts into the room, saying: “Hello? I’m looking for a director… are you he?”

He delivers a letter from Moffat, while Jackson warns his daughter “don’t make eye contact”, telling her to call the cops if things get dangerous.

Not recognising the famous Time Lord, he asks: “Who are you, exactly?”

“I’m the Doctor,” says Capaldi.

“Who?”

“Yes, correct.”

While Jackson fumbles for his glasses to read the letter, a Dalek appears in the background and chases Capaldi around the living room.

Jackson mistakes the sound for a TV playing Doctor Who in the other room – reminding him that it’s time to turn to the channel over to The Walking Dead.

JRR Tolkien fan Capaldi is currently on a trip to New Zealand, Jackson’s home country.

According to local publication Stuff, he told a group of Kiwi Whovians: “Well, we’d love to come here you know, It’s so incredible here, with fabulous locations.

“You’ve got some talented crews here, it would be wonderful to come and do an episode and there was talk of that, I think that almost happened, and it may yet.”
