David Hasselhoff has admitted he has “no idea” if he will be involved in the upcoming Baywatch film.

Zac Efron and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson are set to star in a big screen adaptation of the famous 90s television series, which followed the lives of a team of lifeguards working on a Californian beach.

But The Hoff, who played one of the starring roles in the TV show, said he had not signed up yet to appear in the film version.

Speaking at the opening night of the play McQueen, in London’s West End, Hasselhoff said: “I know Zac – he’s a great guy. The Rock is a lovely guy.

“I wish them nothing but the best but I have no idea what the film’s about, or what’s going on, whether I’m involved or not, I really don’t.

“I’ve talked to my producers because I’m still involved on Baywatch on something else, and I can’t really talk about it.

“As far as the Baywatch movie is concerned, I don’t know.”

Hasselhoff, 63, who is currently walking with a limp after knee surgery, starred in Baywatch alongside Pamela Anderson, who became a household name playing the role of C.J. Parker.

The actress has voiced her unhappiness about the forthcoming film, saying that “no one appreciates the remakes”, according to reports.

Efron – best known for starring in Disney’s High School Musical movies – has joked about muscling out his co-star Johnson, a WWE wrestler, for the film.

Asked recently if he would be bulking up for the role, Efron said: “I don’t know, I’m not sure. I’m just going to be swimming – I’ve got to outswim The Rock. I’m pretty excited, I’m very excited.”
