    House, Five

DON'T you just hate being a latecomer to a series?

It's a bit like being late for a wedding reception when everyone else seems to have got to know each other and are getting on really well, leaving you as an outsider.

I'm getting a similar feeling with the new series House over on Five.

Even though it's now into its fourth series I hadn't managed to catch an episode until last week - and I feel like I've been missing out on some quality viewing.

At the heart of the whole thing is Hugh Laurie - it will take you at least half an episode to get used to the fact he's speaking in a flawless American accent. Can this really be the same actor who put on a dress in Blackadder Goes Forth?

He plays Dr Greg House, an eccentric if you're being kind, a misery if you're not.

From what I've seen so far House is a bit like Shark with doctors instead of lawyers and a more intelligent script.

Basically House has become so difficult to work with he's lost his entire medical team and needs to set about recruiting a new one - so there's plenty of scope there for all the usual stereotypes.

But the clever thing is, it's so well written - and Hugh Laurie is so good - that you don't actually care you can work out what'll happen.

Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

"House" is great. And Hugh is fantastic. So talented and hot. :)

Go buy the three season already aired, Hugh is brilliant as the grumpy Dr. House. So much to learn about the character, his relationships with his team, his best friend Dr. James Wilson, his boss and his broken romance with his ex. Stacey. Lots of Humour and sadness. The multi-talented Hugh as House even plays the piano and guitar and rides a motorcycle in the series.
