MUCH as I love comedy duo David Mitchell and Robert Webb (I rate Peep Show as one of the best comedy shows of all time) I can't help but feel slightly disappointed whenever I watch That Mitchell and Webb Look.
Last night was the penultimate episode of series two, and I found myself still waiting for it to really take off.
Characters, including the hospitalised teenager literally dying from embarrassment were funny in concept - but the sketches always seem to end awkwardly to me.

And while the sketch taking off shows like Bargain Hunt, where a couple are presented with a rare opportunity in the form of an antique wardrobe that also happens to be a gateway to Narnia "great if you don't have a garden", are clever, they don't seem to quite fulfil their potential.
I knew I wasn't going to love this show from the first episode as I sat stony-faced watching the sketch fans seem to love most - Numberwang.
Of course the main problem is that nothing in this series comes anywhere near the genius of Peep Show, which like it or not, is the yardstick that the guys will always be measured by.
This show, which they wrote, as opposed to Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong who wrote Peep Show, would probably be easier to warm to if Peep Show didn't exist.
But it does, and it's just not as good. Sorry boys.
