AS you'd expect with a show from the writers of Footballers' Wives, ITV's Rock Rivals was never going to be the champagne of contemporary drama no matter how hard it tried.
It is more like a cheap sparkling wine, and that's being generous.
It's bubbly and fun but makes you feel bad and before this new series is out I'll bet it will make you feel a little bit sick too.

Just like Footballers' Wives, this show is full of stereotypes that even a seventies sitcom would be ashamed of, and is based on a format that could not be more shallow.
I'd love to say that this was a gloriously trashy show which doesn't take itself seriously - at least then it might work.
But that's not the case. It's actually tried very hard, unfortunately.
The only inspired thing is the casting of Michelle Collins.
The former Cindy Beale is looking a bit haggered these days and the botox and beauty treatments give an air of desperation, which makes her perfect for the her Rivals role.
Replace the strops and bitchy remains of EastEnders with big hair, designer clothes, killer heels, and fake tan and you have Karina Faith.
But just as Footballers' Wives did, it's probably going to somehow manage to be a hit.
Not in my book however - it's a big ITV flop for me.
