    Ski Sunday, BBC2

SKI Sunday used to involve watching David Vine in his best BBC anorak stuck on the side of a mountain somewhere while a blizzard raged all around him.

Inevitably the scheduled ski racing he'd been sent to Klangenlangenflangen to cover would have been postponed due to the bad weather - strange that, snow in the mountains - and so David would be left to fill.' If any ski racing did take place all you would hear would be a bunch of Austrians making strange noises (rather like the crowds at the side of the road during the Tour de France) with the added accompaniment of cow bells as competitors tried to avoid crashing spectacularly into orange net fences rather like those found on building sites.

But now, my how things have changed.

For Ski Sunday has gone all trendy. Although it does still report on the ski racing, that seems to be pretty much an incidental part of the coverage.

Now you get action men Ed Leigh and Graham Bell heading off by helicopter to the remotest mountain ranges on earth to attempt incredibly dangerous feats like snowboarding down a cliff, or last night, swimming in an ice covered lake.

It's more Jackass than Ski Sunday but it looks fantastic.

I always seem to watch ski sunday anticipatiing a skier coming down the slopes at top speed taking a tight corner and suddenly losing his footing, quite hilarious I think the sight of ski's and legs in the air with head buried in those orange building site fences. Apart from that it's just how stupid the skiiers look in their condom suits.
