Come Dine With Me, Channel 4

I'VE said it before, and I'll say it again, Come Dine With Me is the best show on TV at the moment. So why is Channel 4 burying it at 2.55pm on weekdays?

The show takes place over a week where five strangers take it in turns to host a three-course dinner party with a twist. The twist is that at the end of the night, the others will mark them out of 10.

The fun starts when the amateur chefs sink a few glasses of wine and start slagging off each other's cooking, hosting skills, conversation, and choice of wallpaper. And the sarcastic voice-over guy is what really seals it.

The show works so well because, as we all know, people who think they can cook can be a bit of a nightmare.

With £1,000 up for grabs, as well as the small matter of pride, it's never long until the claws come out.

Last night was day two in Edinburgh where 67-year-old vegetarian wine critic Paul presented a meat-free Tuscan banquet, much to the disgust of carnivore Tanya who was worried she'd have to stop at the kebab shop on the way home.

Meanwhile, Tracy, who previously expressed a dislike for talkative James, has decided she doesn't like host Paul either... especially when he decides to educate the group on his precious plonk and accompanies each bottle he serves with a lecture.

Will Paul's veggie food and lengthy wine sermons be enough to win him the prize? We'll find out on Friday.
