THE arch villain of the comedy circuit is back oozing vitriol from every pore.

Boyle never sets out to pull any punches - he readily admitted from the stage that he sees people calling for his head for being outrageous as a badge of honour.

And with his new show he certainly gave his critics plenty of ammunition to have a go at him with.

Paedophiles, Princess Diana, the Yorkshire Ripper and Jessica Ennis all come in for the Boyle treatment plus many more besides.

An hour spent with the combative Glaswegian is brutal.

He relishes assaulting your taste monitors.

Is it offensive?

For many people the whole hour would be deemed virtually obscene.

But that’s what Frankie Boyle does. To object too much is a bit like complaining Roy Chubby Brown swears too much or Peter Alliss only talks about golf on the TV.

If you view Boyle as a pantomime villain, admittedly from a very dark and adult pantomime, you are getting close to the man.

Behind the foul language and the taboo subjects there lurks a very sharp mind exploring how far you can push comedy.

As long as there is free speech there will be Frankie Boyles and that’s quite right.

Is it enjoyable?

That all depends on how broad minded you are.
